Preparing The Finger pricker

The Accu-Chek Softclix Plus finger pricker allows gentle collection of blood from your fingertip or earlobe. You can choose one of 11 different penetration depth settings to suit your own skin type. You can use the finger pricker either attached to the meter, or detached.

The finger pricker has a plunger at the top. This plunger has three functions:

  • Priming the lancet
  • Triggering the lancet to collect blood
  • Ejecting the used lancet

You can perform all of these functions using just one hand. To activate a function, just press the plunger down.

The cap at the lower end of the finger pricker rotates. Use this “Comfort Dial” to set the penetration depth.

Only use Accu-Chek Softclix lancets in your Accu-Chek Softclix Plus finger pricker. Using any other lancets may damage the finger pricker or impair its function.

Detaching the finger pricker from the Meter

  • Push the slide button in the direction indicated by the arrow and hold it there.
  • Withdraw the finger pricker in the direction indicated by the arrow.

Attaching the finger pricker onto the Meter

  • Hold the meter so it is horizontal, with the recess for docking the finger pricker pointing upwards.
  • Place the flat face of the finger pricker on the lower end of the recess, with the plunger facing towards the slide button.
  • Slide the finger pricker forward along the meter in the direction indicated by the arrow, until it locks with an audible CLICK. The guides along the inside of the recess must engage with the grooves along the finger pricker.

For more information on how to use your finger pricker, please see your Accu-Chek Softclix Plus Reference Manual.

Safety Advice: The Accu-Chek Softclix Plus finger pricker is intended patient self-monitoring by an individual person only. It must not be used to collect blood in a multipatient setting as it does not incorporate any features to guard against cross infection.
