How to do a Blood Glucose test

  1. Pull down the central test button to release a test strip. The meter will turn on automatically.

  2. Hold the meter so the test strip is pointing downwards. Touch the drop of blood against the front edge of the test strip where the black notch is located. The strip draws the blood. The display should flash an image of a test strip and blood drop.

  3. See display for meter reading.

  4. Pull down the central test button to eject the used test strip.

 

How to Insert or Replace a test-strip drum

  1. Open drum compartment cover.

  2. Press the red drum release button.

  3. Tip the meter forwards, the test-strip drum drops out.

  4. Insert new test-strip drum.

How to use the Softclix lancing device

  1. The lancing device can either be detached from the Compact Plus meter using the release button, or used whilst still attached. Remove the end cap from the lancing device.

  2. Slide a new lancet into the lancet holder and push it in until it clicks into place.

  3. Remove the protective cap from the lancet with a twisting motion.

  4. Press the end cap back on the finger pricker. The cap snaps into place with a click.

  5. Twist the cap to the required depth setting (11 settings in total).

  6. Press the top of the finger pricker down. The finger pricker is now primed.

  7. Place the finger pricker against the chosen site, press the top of the finger pricker down again untill it clicks.

  8. To replace the lancet, remove the end cap and gently press the end of the finger pricker down to release the lancet.

Accessing the Meter Memory

  1. Press M to turn on the meter without advancing a test strip.

  2. The most recent result is displayed, together with ‘mem’, time and date and any other relevant icon (e.g. special flag or warning message).

  3. Scroll backwards through the memory using the M button (most recent reading first) or forwards using the S button (oldest reading first).

  4. Fast scroll by keeping S or M depressed.

  5. Exit the memory by pressing the Test button.

  6. Note that tests labelled as controls will appear in the memory labelled with the control bottle icon.

  7. Please Note: It is not possible to clear the meter memory manually or by connecting to the Compass software

PC/Smart Printer Download

  1. Prepare the Compass software or Smart Printer.

  2. Press the M and S buttons at the same time on the meter so two arrows appear on the display. This activates the infra-red connectivity of the meter without advancing a test strip.

  3. Point the infra-red port at the infra-red window of the cable or Smart Printer and proceed with the download.
