Accu-Chek Aviva Expert Error Codes

What does the error code (E-51) mean?

Bad Strip Error: Discard the test strip and repeat the test. 

If this error message is seen after blood is applied to the test strip, blood sugar may be extremely low.

  • If the user is experiencing any of the common symptoms of low blood sugar, contact their healthcare professional immediately. 

If this error message is seen before blood is applied to the test strip:

  • Remove the test strip and reinsert it, or replace it if damaged. If the message reappears, please contact the Accu-Chek Customer Careline.

What does the error code (E-52) mean?

Code Key Error: Turn the Accu-Chek Aviva Expert meter off, reinsert or replace code key.

On the meter display the activation chip is referred to as a code key. Code key and activation chip are interchangeable and mean the same thing. If you need an activation chip please contact the Accu-Chek Customer Careline.

What does the error code (E-53) mean?

Bad Test Error: Discard the test strip and repeat the test. 

Blood glucose may be extremely high. If this confirms how the user feels, please contact their healthcare professional immediately.

What does the error code (E-54) mean?

Not Enough Sample Error: Repeat the blood glucose test with a new test strip.

What does the error code (E-56) mean?

Sample Applied Early Error: Discard the test strip and repeat the test.

What does the error code (E-57) mean?

Electronic Error: Remove the batteries from the meter, wait 30 seconds before reinserting or replacing the batteries.

What does the error code (E-58) mean?

Temperature Error: The Accu-Chek Aviva Expert meter is currently outside of its operating temperature range. Move the meter to the correct temperature and wait 5 minutes before repeating the test.

What does the error code (E-59) mean?

Battery Empty Error: Replace the batteries in the Accu-Chek Aviva Expert meter immediately.

What does the error code (E-60) mean?

Time/Date Error: Adjust the time/date if necessary.
